Cedar Key, Florida / George T Lewis Airport / CDK

Cedar Key (CDK) is a favorite fly-in spot that is alleged to have the shortest paved runway in Florida (2355 feet). Regardless, lots of coastal eateries in the airport vicinity. Just don't end up like this guy. My landing was a little more successful.

One thing I found when I landed was that there are only 4 tie-down spots on the small ramp. There was some space in the grass so plan accordingly.

When I landed Maria, one of the local golf cart drivers, was waiting at the fence. I've been told they listen to CTAF and show up at the airport when they hear a call. So definitely announce your intentions when getting close or in the pattern. Maria rode me into town for lunch. When I was done I called her and she came back to ride me back to the airport. The ride into town and back was $15.

If you want your own golf cart then you can make arrangements in advance with Cedar Key Adventures. Call them at 727-410-2112 and they can have one ready for you when you land.

Lot's of places to enjoy the day on Dock St.

I enjoyed lunch at the Big Deck Bar & Grill. Service was quick and easy, and was a fun spot. There are also lots of other eateries on Dock St.

I saw a review on FunPlacesToFly.com for a place called Steamers Seafood Restaurant. They say “Delicious restaurant in downtown Cedar Key, take a golf cart from the airport into down, it's a quick five minute drive. Make sure you try the tuxedo bomb for dessert!”
